Our school librarian is Mrs R Edwards, and she has a small team of pupil librarians to help with the running of the library.

From September our opening hours will be 08:00 – 16:00 Monday – Friday. Resources include:

  • Fiction books
  • Non-fiction books (including reference books and dictionaries)

Passes are only valid for that day. New passes are required each day.)

Students in Y7 – 11 can borrow up to 2 books for 2 weeks, sixth formers and staff can borrow up to 4 items. The Librarian can increase / decrease this limit at her discretion.  We do not charge for overdue library books but we do charge for lost or badly damaged books that we could not put back on the shelves.

The Library policy is available here.

Most books are available for all students, there are a few exceptions – some books are restricted to GCSE or A level students, and some are age restricted. The YA restrictions can be for various reasons within the book content.

If your child wanted to borrow a book that is catalogued for an older year group, parents will need to email the librarian at redwards@ctkcc.co.uk saying that they are giving permission for their child to read YA (young adult) books, and either a) allowing their child to read ‘any’ book under the YA / senior section in the library, OR b) they would prefer to  email each time a new title is requested by their child.  If your child asks for a YA book within a library lesson, then the librarian will email you for this permission, citing which book it is specifically requested at; (unless it has already been gained).

Please email Mrs Edwards on redwards@ctkcc.co.uk for all library related enquiries.

SJF LIBRARY online

This new web app is constantly updated with carousels of new books, and other carousels with newly reviewed books, recently returned, and other featured books.

You can search as a ‘guest’, or you can log in using your school email as your username.

Pupils and parents / carers can now check the library database from home or on the move from the above link and check which books we have on our shelves, if they are in stock or out on loan.

Pupils and parents/carers search using either book titles, author names, or even just keywords, or subject areas. You can also search using the “Accelerated Reader” search – by the exact Book Level or ZPD you are reading.

You can also see which books you have on current loan / past loans / reservations / written reviews.  You can also make “wish lists” of books you want to read.

You can reserve books from home on the app in this way, and then collect from the following day, in a “click & collect” style service.  Book reviews can be written and submitted.

All questions about this service, please ask Mrs Edwards, as above.
