THE LIBRARY

Our school library is staffed by Mrs R Edwards, Miss S Birchall and a team of pupil librarians.

Our opening hours are:

  • 08:00 – 16:45 Monday – Thursday
  • 08:00 – 16:15 Friday
  • Resources include:
  • Fiction books
  • Non-fiction books (including reference books)

Audio books

We also have 16 networked computers A 50 inch television screen & DVD player.

Students in Y7 – 11 can borrow up to 2 books for 2 weeks, sixth formers and staff can borrow up to 4 items. We do not charge for overdue library books but we do charge for lost or badly damaged books that we could not put back on the shelves.
Most books are available for all students, there are a few exceptions – some books are restricted to GCSE or A level students, and some are age restricted. If your child wanted to borrow a book that is catalogued for an older year group, parents will need to sign a note to the effect that they are giving permission for their child to read it.

Please email Mrs Edwards on redwards@ctkcc.co.uk for all library related enquiries.

SJF LIBRARY

Pupils and parents / carers can now check the library database from home (or anywhere with internet connection), from the above link and check which books we have on our shelves, if they are in stock or out on loan.  They will also be able to send messages to the Librarian regarding the books. (please note, all replies will go to the pupil’s ctkcc school email.)
Pupils and parents/carers can log in and search using either book titles, author names, or even just keywords, or subject areas.  You can also see which books you have borrowed in the past.  You can reserve books from home on the ‘app’ in this way, and then collect from the following day, in a “click&collect” style service.  Book reviews can be written and submitted.

All pupils in Y7, Y8 and Y9 have been given their log in details for this facility, if they have forgotten it, or lost the information; please email redwards@ctkcc.co.uk for a reminder. Pupils in Y10 and above who have forgotten their log in details from previous years will also need to email for a reminder.

Pupils can also come and get their user log in information from Mrs Edwards in the library.  Parents / carers can also log in using their child’s log in details in the same way.

All questions about this service, please ask Mrs Edwards, as above.

LOCKDOWN CLICK & COLLECT SERVICE

Your child can log onto the library app, and reserve up to 4 books, and arrange via email a collection slot between 08:00 and 15:30 Monday-Friday, a parent can come and collect the books from the library exit door.  A pupil can collect their books themselves as long as it is not during online lesson time.  Books already on loan will need to be returned at the same time as new books are collected.
